Sustainability

Climate change, finite resources and a growing population pose major challenges for the world. We want to help secure a livable future for people and our planet. To this end, we are active in many areas to increase our handprint and reduce our footprint even further.

Many of our products already have sustainability benefits that maximize our handprint. For example, silanes in green tires help to reduce fuel consumption and protect the environment. Products from the Protectosil® portfolio ensure that building structures are protected from external influences and last for a long time. 

Our silane experts are constantly working to improve our products even further. We have developed water-based silanes that emit fewer volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and thus protect people and the environment. We are gradually switching from solvent-based to water-based systems. 

And development is continuing steadily. Our customers want to operate sustainably just as much as we do. As companies in the specialty chemicals sector, we are looking for environmentally friendly solutions so that they too can offer resource-efficient products and position themselves for the future. We also very often develop these solutions together with our customers and support them in using the chemicals safely. With joint expertise and experience, we thus achieve the best possible results that also benefit the environment. 

To move closer to our goal of climate neutrality and protect our ecosystem, we are also focusing on our environmental footprint. We are increasingly using bio-based raw materials in production, ensuring short transport routes by selecting regional suppliers, and striving to work more efficiently and reduce emissions with improved technologies and next-generation solutions. 

For example, we mainly use bioethanol to produce our silanes, and more than 80 percent of our production facility in Rheinfelden is already powered by hydropower. With the principle of closed production cycles, we succeed in reducing waste and using resources sparingly. For us, all this means acting responsibly. With our measures, we want to set a good example and prepare our customers for the future.
